Communications
We are often complimented on our ability to explain accountancy and taxation matters in laymen’s terms. By and large, our clients understand what we tell them. We try to dispel the mystique that seems to surround our profession and include our clients within our work. We try not to present documents to clients with a request to “sign this” without feeling confident that the client knows what it is he is signing.
Continuity
We rarely lose staff, so we are able to offer an unparalleled level of continuity. So often we hear from new clients switching to us, “I never knew who was dealing with my affairs”. Clients get to know our staff and we encourage the staff to get to know the clients they are working with.
Experience
Our directors each have many years’ experience in public practice. We have a small number of hand-picked trainees who are closely supervised by the “old hands”. We view it as important to transfer the skills of our seniors to ensure continuity of approach in the future.
Expertise
We have not only broad general practice experience, but also depth in the provision of taxation advice and business services generally. We can provide support for most popular book-keeping systems, interim management accounting services, and our detailed knowledge of company reporting requirements is rarely stretched. We ensure that all directors and staff attend courses and seminars regularly and we support our trainees in their professional studies.
Size
With 12 full and part-time staff we believe that we operate at a size that is optimal for servicing our clients’ needs at all times of the year. We are able to cover holidays and sickness without leaving the office under-manned, and the inevitable pressure of seasonal work stretches us only to the point that, with careful planning and people who are used to “pulling together”, we can cope with the tight timescales that has been born out of the self assessment system for both individuals and companies. We are not used to missing deadlines!
Conversely, we are not too large to have lost sight of our original aim to provide a high degree of personal service.
